Pee-Wee's Tale by Johanna Hurwitz

Book review by Nathan....

Pee-Wee was in a Pet Store.  On Robbie's birthday his uncle bought Pee-Wee.  Pee-Wee knew how to read.  Her mom taught her.  After a few days of Pee-Wee living with Robbie, he started to get used to her.  He held her and told her about all about the park and how he played with his friends.  Once when Robbie was sleeping over at a friend's house, his dad put Pee-Wee in a box and let her go outside because Robbie's mom didn't like Pee-Wee.  So Pee-Wee tried to get back into the apartment but she went the wrong way and ended up in the park.  It was night time so Pee-Wee went to sleep.  In the morning, Pee-Wee woke up and said this is so beautiful I must be in the park that Robbie told me about.
She made lots of friends and ran as fast as he could which was double time the speed he actually could because he did exercise.  Pee-Wee saw Robbie with a dog but he thought it was Robbie's friend's dog.  Pee-Wee hid behind a bush because she was afraid of dogs.
Then Pee-Wee read to a lot of creatures at the park. This is the end.  Pee-Wee and Lexi ate an apple.  The end.

Would you tell a friend to read this book?  Yes
Would you like to read another book about Pee-Wee?  Yes
Are you glad that Pee-Wee ended up in the park?  No, because it made no sense because the last chapter was called Robbie.

The Boxcar Children Book #1

(Nathan read this book independently)

There were some children named Henry, Jessie, Benny, and Violet.  They were all happy in their boxcar.  There was a dump and they sometimes went there to get stuff.  But what Benny liked the most was a pink cup that was cracked (but not all the way). *  They ran away from their grandfather.  But at the end they went to their grandfather's house.

*Nathan just told me "open parenthesis." *

The Wind in the Willows

(Nathan's independent reading)

Nathan is reading The Wind in the Willows.  Here are his thoughts.....

"The first chapter was a little bit sad because the mole fell into the water but the river rat saved him by grabbing his hand (but that was on the way back).  They went on a picnic.  That is kind of the end of the chapter."
"I like the book except I haven't finished it yet."

Treasure Island

Caleb is currently reading Treasure Island independently.  Here are his initial thoughts on it.....

"What I like so far is that the captain is so tough.  He is looking for sailor with one leg. "

He'll share more when he finishes the book.
